CONTEXT:

1. INTRODUCTION:

  1.1. VIPERS : FIELDS

VIPERS targets two of the four CFHTLS Wide Fields (CFHTLS-W1/4). For the selection of the Wide Synoptic fields several criteria needed to be fulfilled:
  • Right ascension distribution accessible over the year
  • Visibility from the VLT
  • Low dust extinction
  • Coverage by other surveys
The following table lists the main properties of the two VIPERS/CFHTLS-Wide Fields:
